The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) is a professional organisation for periodontists and as to date, it has 7,500 members.
Each year for the last 105 years, the AAP has been holding an Annual Meeting, during which periodontists benefit from live-learning and also build their network.
For the 2019 Annual Meeting of the AAP which took place in Chicago in November 2019 and welcomed more than 4,800 visitors, Sunstar has been one of the four Signature Diamond-level Sponsors of the event and had several key events during the congress.
The SUNSTAR highlight of the Meeting was the announcement during the Opening General Session of the “Robert J. Genco Perio-Systemic General Session” to debut as the Keynote Address at the AAP’s 106th Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, in October 2020. This tribute to Dr. Genco as an exclusive educational partnership and collaboration with the Academy and the SUNSTAR Foundation was signed into agreement for the next 5 years.
Sunstar GUIDOR had then the distinct honor of hosting a Corporate Forum educational session. Dr. Sebastiano Andreana and Dr. Milton Geivelis, presented on the topic titled, “Biodegradable polymer coated calcium phosphate bone graft material: The biology and its successful indications in challenging situations.” The presentations focused on long-term results in challenging clinical scenario applications of GUIDOR® easy-graft CLASSIC which is an in situ hardened, biodegradable polymer coated β-tricalcium phosphate graft material based on biological principles.
The partnership between Sunstar and the AAP also awards scientific grants: at the AAP’s 105th Annual Meeting, 3 SUNSTAR Innovation Grants were awarded to AAP members who make research showing significant potential of advancement in the field of periodontology.
